When considering timber floor installation there is only one adhesive to use for direct installation. The product is SIKA. Of course there are many adhesives to choose from however Sika are distinguished in that they are suited to Australian timber and Australian conditions. We all know that timber moves; it expands and contracts. The adhesive must allow the natural movement but yet be strong enough to ensure that the floor stays in place and looks good. Sika products are equal to this task. We know of no product with the same strengths.
Where do you start?
All concrete slabs should be sealed. Purpose manufactured concrete sealers are rare. SIKA 156 has been designed as a floor sealer for use under timber floors.It's unique properties allow a floor to be installed over either very new concrete or add protection to existing [aged] concrete slabs. Adhesive Choices?
The principle adhesive in use is SIKA T55. This adhesive is firm yet flexible and offers installers the benefits of polyurethane adhesive in a form that adheres very strongly to both concrete and all timbers. Easy to use, the SIKA product is unique in terms of strength, adhesion the manner in which it 'trowels up' to make good contact with the timber. There is nothing better.
On our DIY page we illustrate the CORDON system in use. This system uses SIKA T53. As a 'gunned' adhesive it provides a 10mm x 8mm 'V-bead' that adheres well to all timbers including pre-finished products. [of couyrse you should always ascertain the adhesion with a pre-finished product.]
Warranty
Sika is a systems approach. This is the only sure way to achieve a warranty. Sika warranty their products and, as long as you use the products as specified, a ten year warranty is available.

Sealer SIKA 156 4kg = 25m2
Adhesive T55 1 sausage = 1m2
Adhesive Cordon T53 1 sausage = 1.5m2
Plank-On-Ply?
While Sika T55 is used over the ply-wood, Permabond 101 is the product of choice under the Plywood. This is a high solids crosslinked EVA. A 20litre drum will cover 20-25m2. It adheres well to the SIKA 156 and provides an excellent level of 'Permanent' adhesion.
